Today is the Gurgaddi Diwas of 2nd Guru of the Sikhs, Shri Guru Angad Dev Ji. Guru Angad Dev Ji were born as Lehna on 31st March, 1504. Gurudwara Matte di Serai now stands at the birthplace of Shri Guru Angad Dev Ji. Parents of Guru Sahib Ji were Bhai Pheru Mall and Mata Sabhrai. Guru Nanak Dev Ji gave the Gurgaddi to Bhai Lehna (later Guru Angad Dev Ji) on 18th September 1539.
Some of the major contributions by Guru Angad Dev Ji are :-
- Invention, teaching and expansion of Gurmukhi
- Enlargement of Langar (free kitchen for all)
- Believe in Equality for all
- Doing Selfless Service
- 63 Shabads of Gurubani in Guru Granth Sahib Ji
Guru Sahib emphasized on finding the God and disconnecting yourself from the wordily things that make us forget the God.
