Bhai Kanhaiya Ji (1648-1718) was the founder of sevapanthi sampardyay of Sikhs. Bhai Sahib was born in Dhamman Khatri family of Sodhara near wazirabad in sialkot district ( now in Pakistan ). Bhai Shaib's father was a wealthy trader. Bhai Sahib in young age used to help the poor and helpless. Bhai Sahib then ran their Father's business and also spent a lot of time with Bhai Nanua, a disciple of the last three Sikh Gurus. Bhai Sahib therefore were introduced to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and became his Sikh. Bhai Shaib was a designated water carrier for Guru Sahib and for the langar. During the skrimishes between the Sikhs and Mughals, Bhai Sahib used to carry a Mashak serving water to wounded and to those dying of thirst. Sikh soldiers complaint Guru Gobind Singh Ji about this act of Bhai Kanhaiya Ji serving water to the enemies. Bhai Sahib explained that he see no Sikh or Muslim but a human being. Everyone has the same GOD's spirit. Guru Gobind Singh Ji admitted that Bhai Kanhaiya has understood the true meaning of Gurbani. Bhai Kanhaiya's mission was selfless service of Humanity with no distinction of caste, creed or nationality.
